Who We Are

Help & Hope for YOUth is a collective impact initiative started by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Southern Arizona (NAMI SA). With funding from the David and Lura Lovell Foundation, NAMI SA commissioned the University of Arizona Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) to conduct an assessment in 2017 to determine the community readiness to address stigma and youth mental health. Based on the results of the assessment, NAMI SA formed and began convening the Help & Hope for YOUth Alliance. The University of Arizona Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) joined NAMI SA as a partner at the end of 2017. The David and Lura Lovell Foundation funded the first year of the four-county initiative beginning in July 2018. As part of the initiative, funding was also secured from AHCCCS through a Mental Health Block Grant to expand NAMI SA’s signature middle and high school program, Ending the Silence.
